About Agalmatolite
La agalmatolita es un término general que designa diversas rocas blandas y compactas, principalmente pirofilita, esteatita o talco, que se pueden tallar fácilmente. Ha sido utilizada durante siglos en China y Japón para crear intrincadas figuras, sellos y objetos ornamentales. Su baja dureza (entre 1 y 3 en la escala de Mohs) la hace ideal para la talla artesanal. Se presenta en tonos crema, verde grisáceo, amarillo o marrón, con un aspecto ceroso o jabonoso característico. La palabra proviene del griego 'agalma' (figura) y 'lithos' (piedra), reflejando su uso milenario como material escultórico.
