About Wardite
Wardite is a rare hydrated sodium aluminum phosphate hydroxide mineral that forms pale blue-green to colorless pyramidal crystals with a vitreous to waxy luster in phosphate-rich granitic pegmatites. Fine crystals have been found at Rapid Creek, Yukon Territory, Canada, and in the crystal-rich pegmatite fields of Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is named after American mineralogist Henry Augustus Ward, and transparent blue-green crystals are occasionally faceted for collectors of rare phosphate gems.
