About Schorlomite
Schorlomite is a rare titanium-rich andradite garnet that typically appears jet black to very dark brown with a bright vitreous to resinous luster and high refractive index. It forms in alkaline igneous rocks including carbonatites and nepheline syenites, and is found notably at Magnet Cove in Arkansas, USA, and in the Ural Mountains of Russia. Though seldom faceted due to its opacity, it is a distinctive mineral valued by garnet collectors.
