About Hurlbutite
Hurlbutite is a rare calcium beryllium phosphate mineral, typically forming colorless to white prismatic orthorhombic crystals with a vitreous to pearly luster in granite pegmatites. It was first described from the Palermo No. 1 pegmatite in New Hampshire, USA, in 1953 and named in honor of mineralogist Cornelius S. Hurlbut Jr. Gem-quality transparent material is extremely rare, and faceted hurlbutite is a significant rarity among beryllium phosphate collector minerals.
