About Hibonite
Hibonite is a calcium aluminum oxide mineral in the magnetoplumbite group, typically forming black to brownish-black hexagonal platelet crystals with a submetallic luster, and occasionally transparent brownish-red material suitable for faceting. It was first described from Madagascar and is also found as microscopic grains in carbonaceous chondrite meteorites, making it one of the oldest known minerals in the solar system. Gem-quality transparent hibonite is extremely rare and of exceptional scientific and collector interest.
