About Fayalite
Fayalite is the iron-rich end member of the olivine group mineral series (the magnesium end being forsterite), forming pale to deep yellow-green or brownish yellow crystals in iron-rich granites, pegmatites, and metamorphic rocks. Transparent gem-quality fayalite is rarely encountered, with faceted examples from Elba, Italy, and Greenland being extremely unusual collector specimens. Fayalite is also found in some basaltic lavas and as a component of chondritic meteorites.
