About Ettringite
Ettringite is a calcium aluminum sulfohydrate mineral forming small, bright yellow prismatic crystals in contact metamorphic and alkaline igneous rocks, as well as in concrete as a result of chemical reactions (where it can cause structural damage). Fine mineral specimens displaying pale to bright yellow translucent crystals come primarily from N'Chwaning Mine in South Africa's Kalahari Manganese Field. Faceted ettringite is an extraordinary specialist rarity.
