About Chiastolite
Chiastolite is a variety of andalusite that contains a distinctive cross-shaped pattern of dark carbonaceous inclusions visible in cross-section, created when impurities were pushed aside as the crystal grew. Named from the Greek 'chiastos' meaning cross-marked, it has been worn as a Christian talisman and good luck charm for centuries, particularly in Spain and England. Polished cross-section slices clearly reveal the geometric cruciform pattern that makes each specimen unique.
