About Binghamite
Binghamite is a rare, chatoyant variety of silicified crocidolite (blue asbestos) intergrown with goethite, found exclusively in the Cuyuna Iron Range of Minnesota, USA, and named after William Binghamite who first collected it. Polished cabochons display brilliant, silky, chatoyant bands in warm red, orange, gold, and brown hues, similar to but more fiery than tiger's eye. Its exclusive American origin and striking optical quality make it a prized regional gemstone.
